Producer J.J. Abrams upcoming monster movie Cloverfield has sported one of the most innovative marketing campaigns of any film in recent history--and with the film set for release on January 18th, that campaign's showing no signs of slowing down. Now filmgoers will have an opportunity to attend the very same event at which Cloverfield's storyline begins: a surprise going-away party for Rob Hawkins, the film's nominal hero. (Check out our recent interview with Michael Stahl-David, the actor who plays Hawkins.)
Paramount Pictures is teaming up with Myspace to host the party, which will be held next Thursday night, January 17th on New York City's Lower East Side. 200 people who RSVP to robsparty@cloverfieldmovie.com will be randomly selected to attend. (Be sure to include your full name and a phone number at which you can be reached. You'll be told if you're chosen via telephone.) RSVP by this Thursday night, January 10th, at midnight. The winners will be picked this Friday.
Check out the official rules right here. And good luck! After all, if reality keeps mirroring the film, this could be the last party you'll ever attend.
