Hellboy Invades Hobbiton?

A few directors? names have been kicked around lately for the role of helming the upcoming double installment of The Hobbit. Now it looks like Guillermo Del Toro is negotiating to make the Tolkien adaptation his project. Del Toro is in talks to direct the pair of films, which will serve as prequels to the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Peter Jackson is executive producing, with what sounds like a fair amount of creative control over the piece. The film has yet to find a writer due to the strike, but that process will be expedited once the strike is settled.
