From Hollywood Reporter
Just weeks prior to the start of shooting, The Wolfman has lost its director, Mark Romanek (One Hour Photo). Apparently there were differences in opinion between the director and the studio as to budget. Romanek was asking for more, and Universal was aiming to keep it in the $100M range, seeing as it would probably be an R-rated flick. The plot is furthered thickened by the writer?s strike, which will keep the draft concocted by Romanek from being changed, meaning that a new director would have to stick with Romanek?s script, decisions and vision. Benecio Del Toro is still set to star, as well as Anthony Hopkins and It girl Emily Blunt, and the producers are still on board. So don?t go howling to the moon yet, this project is very much still alive. But, well, if you ever wanted to direct a big-budget lycanthropy film, you might to polish up that resume.
Just in; Aintitcoolnews.com now tells us that Universal is already eyeing a few monster connoisseurs like Brek Eisner, recently attached to Universal?s Creature from the Black Lagoon remake, and Cloverfield director Matt Reeves who is reportedly pairing up with J.J. Abrams once again for Cloverfield 2 and Invisible Woman.
