For those wondering what could have been cut from Cloverfield?s theatrical release, we asked the film?s cast and director?when we spoke with them this weekend at the film?s official press junket in New York?what new scenes might appear on the Cloverfield DVD. Their answers hinted at an extended look at Rob (Michael Stahl-David) and Beth?s (Odette Yustman) romance and more humor courtesy of hapless cameraman Hud (T.J. Miller) and his dreamgirl Marlena (Lizzy Caplan).

?That bedroom scene was longer,? says Stahl-David. ?Oh, it was way longer,? agrees Yustman. ?Especially in the rough cut that I saw. Almost all of it was there. They definitely chopped that one up.?

?I remember every single line of mine that they cut,? says Miller. ?We had some hilarious stuff?snip, snip? If the film was any longer than an hour and a half, I think it would become tedious. It?s already hard enough to be in the theater for that intense of a ride. So I think it was the right length and the pace was right. They did a really, really good job?J.J. and everybody at Bad Robot, and [director] Matt [Reeves]. They did a good job of putting together a film that isn?t too much [but] is enough. It?s not a film making people go, ?Oh, that was so short!? I?ve never heard anyone say that.?

Reeves tells us to expect some surprises when his monster hit makes its way to the little silver disc. ?Oh yeah,? he says. ?We have stuff. We have deleted scenes. We have a bunch of stuff.?

Of course, some of those deleted scenes could be alternate endings, and after the test screenings that took place shortly before Cloverfield's release, there's no telling how many of those might exist. The film's final shot, for example --in which [spoiler alert!] something falls from the sky behind Rob and Beth--was added at the last minute. "We reshot the end of the movie and we added that in," says Yustman. "That was just a recent addition that they did. It might have been [from] other people's perspectives. Because I think there were a few screenings and they were taking people's opinions, and that might have come from other people saying, 'Hey, maybe that would be cool, if you just suddenly dropped something.'"
