In the wake of Universal losing Mark Romanek as director for their upcoming The Wolfman, the studio is now auditioning a slew of new directors to fill the gap. In Uni?s sights are helmers such as Frank (The Mist) Darabont, James (Walk the Line) Mangold and Joe (Jurassic Park III) Johnston. Foremost in their minds, speculations say, is director Brett Ratner, who they feel could take up the slack left by Romanek because he picked up the slack (well, tried to pick up the slack) left by Bryan Singer when he exited from the X-Men franchise for Superman Returns. Good ol? Ratner?always happy to scoop up the crumbs!
