'Diary of the Dead' First from Third Rail Releasing

The Weinstein Co. is launching a new distribution banner called Third Rail Releasing and Diary of the Dead (which already had a limited theatrical release scheduled for this Friday Feb 15th) will be the first film released under the new banner. You can check out the Diary of the Dead trailer on FEARnet.com. We're told that Third Rail Releasing's goal is is 'to showcase what the company describes as "inventive and edgy vanguard films" from independent and maverick filmmakers with an aim to use "groundbreaking" marketing tools.' We're still trying to figure out if this is a good thing for Diary of the Dead and what any of this actually means. Weinstein's say there could be about 10 movies a year released under Third Rail and despite the banner launch with Diary of the Dead, it's definitely not a genre label. Weinstein followed by telling us that it's definitely not a horror movie, it's definitely not a remake and that it's DEFINITELY not butter.
