If you were excited to see Renee Zellweger open Case 39?as a social worker attempting to save a child from a dangerous family, but realizing that the kid?s problem is much more sinister?you?ll just have to wait even longer for that new horror-thriller! Paramount has recently reshuffled their 2008 and 2009 releases, and has pushed back the release date of Case 39 from August 22, 2008, to April 10, 2009! Aside from Zellweger, Case 39 also stars Bradley Cooper (Midnight Meat Train?check out our exclusive intervew here) and was written by Ray Wright of Pulse fame (who just recently signed on to remake George Romero?s The Crazies).
In addition to moving the release date for Case 39, J.J. Abram?s Star Trek has also been affected. If you were thinking of taking everyone on your holiday shopping list to see J.J. Abram?s Star Trek on Christmas day, then you better reconsider! Variety.com reports that Paramount decided Abram?s Star will Trek much better as a summer title and has moved the film?s December 25th 2008 release date back to May 8th 2009.
