It?s amazing how many people missed that ass-kicking, smart-ass talking sports car, KITT, because the two-hour retelling of Knight Rider scored NBC some record-breaking numbers! According to Variety.com, Knight Rider attracted the most young adults and held the best demo score for a movie on television in nearly three years?since ABC?s Their Eyes Were Watching God premiered in 2005. The made-for-TV Knight Rider movie pulled in 12.7 million viewers overall from 9 to 11 pm, mostly males between the ages of 18 and 49, and 25 and 54. Because of it?s strong comeback, NBC has announced the reborn Rider will continue with a May 2008-2009 series!
But Sunday wasn?t just good for criminal-hunting cars. It proved to be an all around blockbuster TV night for genre-nuts and networks alike! The broadcast television debut of Showtime series Dexter on CBS pulled in about eight times the number of viewers the serial killer-who-kills-serial-killers show pulled in on Showtime, and gave CBS its best performance in a 10 pm timeslot since December. Let?s hear it for cool cars and killer coroners!
