KNB's Greg Nicotero on Upcoming Films
We recently caught up with Greg Nicotero (KNB) and he dished on some of KNB Effect's upcoming projects. When asked about Alexandre Aja's (High Tension) upcoming film Mirrors Nicotero tells us, "We just did some reshoots in January on Mirrors and we're wrapping up photography. Mirrors is a really great ghost story with a great cast with Kiefer Sutherland and Amy Smart. Alex definitely kept his fingerprints on the movie, there's some great creepy scenes and some really gory scenes and some deaths that you won't be expecting or anticipating. I was jumping between there and Prague for Narnia. I love working with Alex Aja. It's likely his next movie is gonna be Piranha he's hoping, he's like you gotta come up with great ways to kill people and I was like great, it's what I do, perfect. I'll definitely be involved in Piranha. Alex is one of those guys when we were doing Hills Have Eyes it was one of those things where he'd come up with a concept and then you show the director and all of his notes are notes that you would have made. We've always been in tune with our design sense. I read an early draft of Piranha and I'm sure with Alex it'll be pretty outrageous cause he's a no holds barred kinda guy.
When we asked Nicotero about some of KNB's other upcoming projects he told us, "We just wrapped principal photography on Splice, Del Toro is executive producing he had mentioned this when Pan's Labyrinth was released, we were at Sitges film festival and Guillermo was like listen, I've been waiting for the right project for us to work together on and it's called Splice and I want you to met Vincenzo Natali who had directed Cube which I love, I thought it was an amazing movie so about 8 months later low and behold we started prep the end of October. We start shooting Monday on a film called Unborn that David Goyer is directing, Platinum Dunes is producing. Sam Raimi is directing Drag Me To Hell which we start shooting the end of March and we're doing a film with Michael Mann called Public Enemy, it's the John Dillinger movie with Johnny Depp and Val Kilmer and a film called Surrogates with Bruce Willis. And Final Destination 4 they start shooting in about 2 weeks in New Orleans, there's just so many I'm trying to keep track. KNB is about to celebrate our 20 year anniversary, we've been around for 20 years."
