Heather Langenkamp first dazzled audiences with her role as Nancy Thompson in Wes Craven's classic from '84 A Nightmare on Elm Street. Since then, Heather went on to star in the 3rd and 7th 'nightmare' in the series, Dream Warriors and Wes Craven?s New Nightmare as well as countless television shows. And even though the one time scream queen?s main role is now playing mommy, she?s still keeping active in the business. We chatted with Heather Langenkamp at Texas Fear Fest 2 last weekend, and she let us in on what she?s up to including a new project called Cirque Du Freak.

What occupies your time these days?

Well actually my husband and I run a make up FX company called AFX studios so we make special effects make up for film and right now my husband?s working on a movie called Cirque Du Freak and it?s a very large production so that?s been keeping us busy for the last couple months. And then we have several projects that we?re trying to get off the ground and get going. So I produce the work that takes place in our shop and hire all our employees and our artists, but at the same time, you know, my kids are getting older now so I?m really considering taking on more acting or at least trying to go out for more but it really wreaks havoc on your family life, being an actor. And also being in the public eye is very detrimental to your family and it?s just hard to balance that, and I know how hard it is so I haven?t pushed it for myself, to put my family through that. And I think now that they?re older and going to college next year I?ll be able to feel better about spending time away from home and being on location.

Can you talk a little about Cirque du Freak?

It?s a big picture, based on the children?s set of novels, and it?s a story about a young boy who becomes a vampire and he finds himself living in a circus of freaks and they?re all very strange. Very bizarre freaks. You have your typical bearded lady and super tall guy, but then there are all these very bizarre body shaped people, and a snake boy, a boy who has snake skin, so they?re all real freaks, they?re not, like, putting on a costume. And the make up effects on that are going to be a real big aspect.
