From Dreamworks, the new Sci-fi/horror animated spoof, Monsters vs. Aliens, will be the first CGI animated film to be shot entirely in 3-D. The film, which spoofs the 1950?s era explosion of monster and alien movies, will offer picture perfect 3-D without eye strain or nausea. Other animated films have been in 3-D, but only after the film was shot in standard version. Imagine if they did this with every giant monster movie. Cloverfield in 3-D would have left our eyeballs rolling around on the floor. Look for Monsters vs. Aliens in theaters in March 27th, 2009.

Update! New casting has been announced for the film. Reese Witherspoon will play Susan Murphy, a woman who's hit by a meteor and grows 50 feet tall. Hugh Laurie (House) will play the insect headed Dr. Cockroach. Will Arnett (Arrested Development) will play the half ape/half fish Missing Link. Paul Rudd (Knocked Up) will play a boyfriend. Kiefer Sutherland will play a general. And Stephen Colbert will play the president of the United States. Also on board are Seth Rogen (Knocked Up) and Rainn Wilson (The Office).
