Fan-favorite Sam Raimi seems to be in the news everyday for the past few weeks, but this time, it?s not about Spiderman 4, reality TV shows, his return to horror roots with Drag Me To Hell or yet another Evil Dead DVD. This time, Raimi is actually in negotiations with Paramount Pictures to spearhead a franchise revival of Tom Clancy?s Jack Ryan. According to Variety.com, discussions with Raimi include the possibility that he will direct and develop a film about Ryan at a younger point in his career, a film with present day action-triggered by a global threat premise, or a film based on Clancy?s new Ryan book. The fourth option was to have Ryan trapped in a cabin in the woods with an evil book, but that idea was scrapped right quick. After the success of the four previous Jack Ryan films which grossed $781.5 million worldwide, the franchise revival begs the question who will play Ryan? Someone new, or a laughable reprise of any of the former Ryan?s like the original, Alec ?Can?t stop yelling my kid? Baldwin, Harrison ?I?m 61 but I?m still Indiana Jones? Ford or Ben ?I?m f&#cking Jimmy Kimmel? Affleck. We?re holding out for Bruce Campbell.
