It was a packed house of die-hard Slayer fans at the Cinerama Dome at the ArcLight in Hollywood, CA Thursday night. And, no, it wasn?t a celebration of the 80s metal band Slayer, but rather that petite blonde from Sunnydale that kicked demon ass for seven years--Buffy the Vampire Slayer! On the seventh night of the 25th Annual Paley Festival, which celebrates both classic and current television shows, creator Joss Whedon, Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy Summers) and nine other members of the beloved cast and creative team got on stage to reminisce about their phenomenally popular cult show, which premiered as a mid-season replacement eleven years ago. For interviews with the cast, check out our official coverage of the 'Buffy' Cast Reunion.
The night started with the airing of the now-classic musical episode from the sixth season, ?Once More with Feeling.? The enthusiastic crowd applauded and sang along with the big screen action and 45 minutes later the lights came up and moderator Matt Roush of TVGuide introduced the entire panel including: Joss Whedon, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Nicholas Brendan (Xander Harris), James Marsters (Spike), Emma Caulfield (Anya Jenkins), Michelle Trachtenberg (Dawn Summers), Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia Chase), Seth Green (Oz), Amber Benson (Tara Maclay), Marti Noxon (executive producer), and David Greenwalt (executive producer).
For more than an hour they all answered questions and joked with one another about the show in front of an incredibly enthusiastic audience, touching on a variety of topics from the making of the musical, creating the Emmy-nominated, silent episode ?Hush,? the seminal episode about death called ?The Body,? the lesbian storyline between Willow and Tara, and even why they think the show has such longevity.
