I always thought the best part of CBS's hit show Ghost Whisperer was the forty minutes of screen time devoted to genre-hottie Jennifer Love Hewitt as ghost medium Melinda Gordon, but apparently IDW Publishing saw something else there! In a five-issue monthly series written by the show's writers, Carrie Smith and Becca Smith, and taking place between Seasons 2 and 3, the new Ghost Whisperer comic book will explore what happens when Melinda continues to help earthbound spirits enter the light while warding off Osiris, the Egyptian god of the dead, who wants those souls for himself! Writer Carrie Smith says series creator John Gray is partially responsible for the Osiris premise, since he's a history buff:

"Ancient Egypt is just chock-full of cool visuals," she says. "You've got your mummies, hieroglyphics, scarabs, cool costumes and demons.? And while fans will get a new character with Osiris, Smith says, "the plotline features all of the major characters and relationships that viewers are familiar with.?
