We?re pretty damned excited about the upcoming 2001 Maniacs sequel, Beverly Hellbillys. So, over the past year, we?ve been talking to everyone involved with the film?from director Tim Sullivan (FEARnet Tim Sullivan interview) to the star, Mayor Buckman himself, Robert Englund (FEARnet Robert Englund interview). And when we got the chance to talk to Maniac?s Milk Maiden, Christa Campbell about her upcoming role in Day of the Dead, we couldn?t resist sneaking in a few minutes to talk about her 2001 Maniacs role reprisal in Beverly Hellbillys!

Genre fans first fell in love with Campbell after her role as Milk Maiden in Tim Sullivan?s original 2001 Maniacs. When we asked her how she felt about coming back for the sequel she replied, ?I can?t wait! I think it?s going to be great! I call that movie the warm-up for us. We were just getting into our characters and getting to know each other. Now we can really expand that and do a lot more. The second film will be more like, ?You know the characters. Now let?s see what they can do!??

Beverly Hellbillys is scheduled for release in late 2008, and because of Robert Englund?s demanding work schedule, won?t start shooting until June. So Campbell didn?t know much about the future of her role, but she did say, ?Instead of being the Milk Maiden and having just one character, I think you?re going to see me change into different characters in different outfits and kill in different ways.?

But before going on to discuss her other new genre projects, like the Michael Madsen and Wes Bently starrer Ligeia (based on Edgar Allan Poe?s work), Campbell added, ?I mean, I already revealed the assets [of Milk Maiden] so now it?s going to be like, I?m going to do something different. Depending on Robert Englund?s schedule, I think they are looking at June. He?s just crazy booked??
