She may not be well known to genre fans, since she?s primarily played the blonde beauty and girl-next-door types in films like John Tucker Must Die and Hairspray; but believe it or not, this girl next door has a dark side after our own hearts!

After playing a pretty controversial role as a Nazi in FX?s Nip/Tuck, and the lead in Sony?s non-remake, sadistic-killing-packed Prom Night, this is one good girl who?s gone bad?with upcoming roles playing prostitutes in some pretty twisted films! So for all you guys out there into cute innocent blondes who dig horror films and like to dress up as hookers, well, Brittany Snow may just be the girl for you!

Horror films tend to feed off of intense moments. What was the most intense moment for you as the lead in Sony?s newest horror film, Prom Night?

The scene where I have to view my mother getting killed right in from of me. It takes place when I?m 16 years old. So not only am I playing someone much younger than I am, but I?m on the ground under the bed watching my mom get killed. Having that mentality is actually worse than getting chased by a killer or a psychopath, because you?re actually viewing someone getting killed?and it?s your mother! I never want to do something that?s fake, or a cliché version of something, so getting into that headspace was not very fun.

How did you handle jumping in and out of that character, going through such a traumatic experience?

It?s a really hard thing. I never really realized how hard a horror movie could be in that way. You want to be fun and funny on set and make friends with the crew members and the cast, so having to go from laughing to hysterically crying because you?re being chased by a madman? It?s really hard to go in and out of those places and still maintain a life. If you can?t, you would just be hysterically crying all day, and that?s not fun. It?s hard to go in and out of that, but I sort of developed a system to have fun and then know when it was time to get myself together. I definitely respect anyone that does horror movies, because it?s not an emotion that you deal with everyday?getting almost killed.

Since it was your first horror film, how did you handle watching someone getting killed in front of you?

You can?t attach yourself too much to it, or you?d be crying a lot more than you should be. It?s fake blood and fake everything, and you have the crew laughing and hanging out, doing their job. It?s one of those things that is really weird. And a lot of people think that horror movies, especially teen horror movies, are cliché, but for the actors working on it, it?s really intense to play someone getting chased or watching someone die. You try not to think about it too much and leave it after the scene is done.

I guess you never really got to go to your own prom?

I didn?t, and one of the first things they asked me when I went out for this part was, ?How was your prom?? I told them I never went to prom, because I was working on American Dreams at the time and was working the day of my prom. But I went to prom on American Dreams, and worked on Prom Night for three months, so I pretty much fulfilled my prom wishes by being in a prom dress for three months.

Did you see the 1980?s Prom Night starring Jamie Lee Curtis?

I didn?t?well, I did?that?s not true. I didn?t see the whole thing and I don?t really remember it, because I was going to watch the original but thought that I actually shouldn?t. The funny thing is that this movie is not a remake at all. Everyone kind of thinks that it is, and is going to go thinking they are going to see a remake. With that in mind I kind of didn?t want to watch the rest of it, just because I didn?t want my brain to somehow do anything that Jamie Lee Curtis was doing or create any character similarities. I kind of just did my own thing and went with the script that we had.

What attracted you to the role of Donna? Are you a horror fan?

I am a fan of horror films. It?s funny because I was very hesitant on doing this film, because I wanted it to be a good choice for me and my career. When I found out it wasn?t a remake that was nice, because I feel like there are too many remakes right now. I also really loved the director Nelson McCormick, and this is the first project where I?ve been able to have a big hands-on approach to the movie in general. I got to kind of create the script with Nelson and the writer, and worked as kind of a producer on it and got to share my ideas. The script turned out to be something really good for the age range, and isn?t over-the-top bloody-gory. It?s more about the psychological aspects of it.

For you, what?s the best way to watch a horror movie?

I?ve always been partial to the?if you?re just dating a guy and you don?t really know if he likes you or not, a horror movie is always a good idea because then you get scared and he hugs you. I like watching horror films at home!

What are some of your favorites?

The Exorcist or The Children of the Corn movies. They were really scary because I saw them way too young and I just have a mental image of watching that when I was young, when I shouldn?t have been watching.

After Prom Night is released on April 11th, what else can fans see you in?

I have a movie coming out called Finding Amanda. It?s premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival. It?s a comedy with Mathew Broderick, but it?s a dark comedy and I play a prostitute in it. Then I also have a movie called Black Water Transit coming out in the summer as well, from director Tony Kaye who did American History X. It?s obviously not a very light movie. It?s sort of art house with crazy visuals; something only Tony Kaye can do I guess...and I play a prostitute in that as well! I?m also doing a movie right now called the Vicious Kind, and I don?t play a prostitute in that?thank gosh?but it?s kind of about men being obsessed with their girlfriends who cheated on them, and how that sort of mentality can completely mess you up for a really long time. So I play a cool character in that as well, and it should be out next year.

What is your personal biggest fear?

Probably being alone on a desert island or in the middle of the ocean. I have a weird thing with water. It?s weird because I?m from Florida, so you would think I would be okay with water. But probably being in the middle of the ocean alone is my biggest fear.

Thank you for talking with us today, Brittany!

Yeah, thank you!
