Last week we confirmed that Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pan?s Labyrinth) would be at the helm of the Lord of the Rings prequel, The Hobbit. Now, it seems that the Hobbit helmer is moving fast (well, as fast as the hobbit-like del Toro can possibly move) to get his cast together, and include some familiar faces. British Magazine Empire spoke with Ian McKellen, Gandalf of the Lord of the Rings series, who said, ?''Yes, it's true. I spoke to Guillermo in the very room that Peter Jackson offered me the part and he confirmed that I would be reprising the role.? He continued, ?Obviously, it's not a part that you turn down, I loved playing Gandalf.? Though McKellen is interested in starring in the scheduled two-film epic, to be produced by Jackson, the veteran actor said he does not plan to reprise his role as Magneto in any future X-Men spin-offs.
