By now you?ve probably heard a thing or two about NBC?s new horror anthology series Fear Itself. In the same vein as Masters of Horror, the show will pair top horror directors with writers, each team essentially creating a one-hour horror film for their episode of the series. Well, we?ve now got the dirt on all the episodes for the upcoming inaugural season!
Episode 1 is titled Eater and was written by Jonathon Schaech and Richard Chizmar. It?s helmed by Re-Animator director Stuart Gordon, and focuses on a female rookie cop who spends her first night watching over a murderer who eats his victims and takes their identities; but as the night goes on she realizes something strange is going on with everyone in her precinct. The episode stars Elizabeth Moss, Russell Hornsby, Stephen Lee, Pablo Schreiber, and Stephen Hart.
Episode 2 is titled Spooked, written by Matt Venne and directed by Brad Anderson. It follows a private eye who stakes out a haunted house, only to be tormented by the spirits of those he wronged in the past. It stars Eric Roberts, Cynthia Watros, Jack Noseworthy, and Larry Gilliard Jr..
Episode 3, Community, is written by Kelly Kennemer and directed by Mary Harron, and follows a young married couple who move into what seems to be the perfect community. But when their neighbors start going to extremes to induce conformity, terror creeps in. This episode stars Brandon Routh and Shiri Appleby.
Episode 4 is titled The Sacrifice. It?s written by Mick Garris and directed by Breck Eisner, and follows four young guys on a camping trip that eventually leads them to a snow-covered fortress, where sexy women with a dark secret from Transylvania await. It stars Jeffrey Pierce, Jesse Plemons, Rachel Miner, Mircea Monroe and Stephen Martines.
Episode 5 is titled In Sickness and in Health, and is written by Victor Salva. It?s being directed by John Landis (An American Werewolf in London) and follows a young bride who finds a note telling her the person she?s about to marry is a serial killer. It stars James Roday and Maggie Lawson.
Episode 6, Family Man, is written by Dan Knauf and directed by Ronny Yu. It?s about a man who has a near-death experience and switches bodies with a serial killer. It stars Colin Ferguson and Clifton Collins Jr.
Episode 7, Something with Bite, is written by Max Landis and directed by Ernest Dickerson. It reinvents the classic werewolf story, and stars Wendell Pierce and Paula Jai Parker.
Episode 8, New Year?s Day is written by 30 Days of Night scribe Steve Niles, and directed by Saw II through IV helmer Darren Lynn Bousman. It follows a young woman who wakes up in a world overrun by zombies. It stars Briana Evigan. We recently spoke with Darren about Fear Itself, and got some details on his episode.
Episode 9, Skin and Bones, is written by Drew McWeeny and Scott Swan, and directed by Larry Fessenden. It concerns a cattle herder missing from his farm for days, who returns possessed by a monster. No cast has been determined yet for this episode.
Episode 10 is titled Chance, and was written by Lem Dobbs. No director or cast have been confirmed yet, but the story?s about a good man confronted by his evil twin.
Episode 11, The Spirit Box, was written by Joe Gangemi and directed by Rupert Wainwright. It follows two high school girls who contact their dead friend via Ouija board, only to find their friend was murdered.
Episode 12, Echoes, was written by Sean Hood. No director or cast has been set yet. It?s the story of a man who moves into a house he believes he lived in in a past life, and finds that in his past life he was a sadistic murderer, the spirit of whom is now attempting to take control of him.
Episode 13 has yet to find a cast, script, or director, but it?s scheduled to shoot in July.
