Looks like someone resurrected my childhood. Just days after the Weinstein Company announced their Fraggle Rock movie, Columbia has grabbed the studio rights to R.L. Stine?s young adult book series Goosebumps, according to Variety. In the early to late 90s, author Stine published sixty-two books under titled under the Goosebumps banner (or "Are You Afraid of the Dark? The Book Series" as some might recall it) and sold over 300 million copies, a feat only accomplished by one other franchise - Harry Potter. Bumps also spawned a TV series at one point for the Fox Kids Network. Columbia Co-President Mark Tolmach commented, ?With so much rich source material available to us, we expect to deliver a film that will chill and thrill fans of this unique family-friendly franchise.? The studio has reportedly fast-tracked the project, and is now searching for a writer to adapt Stine's spooky tales to film.
