Horror vet Joe Dante (Gremlins, Piranha) has jumped on board the indie genre flick Bat Out of Hell. The film, which Dante will direct, revolves around a red-eye flight from L.A. to New York during which hijackers confront the monstrous cargo. Variety reports that Dante will team with Masters of Horror/ Fear Itself scribes Drew McWeeny and Scott Swan, who wrote the film for Parallel Zide and Voodoo Productions. Filming is scheduled to begin later this year.
