Rob Morrow Goes for a Sci-Fi 'Spin'

Variety is reporting that Olympus Pictures and producers Rob Morrow and Leslie Urdang (sounds like what a redneck says when he catches his finger in the hood of his car. ?Errrr?Dang!?) are set to bring Robert Charles Wilson?s Hugo-Award-winning sci-fi/thriller Spin to the big screen. The novel is part of a trilogy (the two other books being Axis and Vortex), and we know how much Hollywood loves beating franchises like so many dead horses. The story wraps itself around a young scientist trying to save humanity from the impending apocalypse of a "spin" that has enveloped the Earth, amid realization that salvation may be found with the discovery of life on Mars. Life on Mars? There?s only one thing that can make this the greatest film ever?if all of the Martians are exact replicas of David Bowie and live in the golden Mecca of Suffragette City. Hmmm. Maybe they?ll hire me to adapt the screenplay?
