While doing press for his latest film, the psychological thriller Stuck, director Stuart Gordon shared with FEARnet the status of his long-awaited next chapter in his Re-Animator saga--House of Re-Animator--which would see a zombie president installed in the White House, a deliberate spoof of a president many Americans already believe to be a kind of monster--George W. Bush.
"I wish I had good news on that," he told us. "It doesn?t look like it is going to happen. I?ve been having second thoughts on it, because I keep reading about Oliver Stone and the movie he is doing about the Bush presidency. I am worried it is a little bit too late to start doing movies about the Bush administration. By the time this movie would come out, we would have a new President, and it would be like, 'Who cares?' But maybe people are still interested in the Bush administration--that it was so audacious that people will still be interested."
But wouldn't a zombie President be timeless? "Yeah," he admits, "but I think it has to be the right zombie."
When asked if he's been approached about a remake of his original Re-Animator, Gordon remarked, "No. Every once in a while someone will call and casually inquire about it."
