This weekend horror flick the Strangers stepped up to gross 20 million in sales despite tough competition from Indiana Jones 4 and Sex and the City: The Movie according to Box Office Mojo. The flick starring Liv Tyler (Lord of the Rings, Armageddon) and Scott Speedman (Underworld) opened in close to 2,500 theaters grabbing approximately $8,400 per location ? which at present face value for tickets in LA means about only twelve people made it into the Grove to catch a screening. It was definitely an impressive start for the modestly budgeted Strangers (it was made for $10 million) as it was pitted against the $65 million dollar Sex and the City movie and the monstrous $185 million dollar Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Neither of the latter made back their budget in their first week and the Strangers made it back twice! Great job, guys!
