We hit Wizard World Philadelphia last weekend?and got a few awesome tidbits for those of you who couldn?t make the fan-favorite (and, some would argue, fan-pandering) McRoadshow. The show?s biggest announcement came, arguably, from Marvel, when the company, at a Saturday panel, confirmed they would publish a comic-book adaptation of Stephen King?s classic apocalyptic novel The Stand. We chatted with Marvel talent consultant C.B. Cybulski about the project?
What can you tell us about The Stand?
After we had so much success with The Dark Tower, we?re going to be adapting Stephen King?s The Stand into a comic-book series. Stephen King is acting as a creative supervisor, and it?s going to be written by Roberto Sacasa, with art by Mike Perkins and covers by Lee Berjemo.
Is this going to be a direct adaptation? Or is it going to be like The Dark Tower in that it will be a kind of spin-off?
I don?t know, to be honest with you. I know it?s going to adapt the book but if it?s going to have a bunch of new material?I don?t know. Its primary function is definitely going to be adapting the book.
How many issues will the series run?
I don?t know. The panel didn?t say. I think Marvel definitely knows, but they just announced it and unveiled the artwork. So they?re going to be putting out a more public press release about how many issues and everything down the line.
