It's '2012' for Peet's Sake!
The world, as Amanda Peet knows it, is coming to an end. It?s got a nice ring, eh? Well, I?d be willing to loan it to Roland Emmerich for the advance poster of his upcoming apocalyptic thriller 2012. Oh yeah?by the way, The Hollywood Reporter has announced Amanda Peet has been cast in the lead female roster spot for the upcoming end-of-civilization flick. Of course she isn?t playing herself, but I think my line is catchy all the same. What Peet is doing in her new position is playing lead John Cusack?s ex-wife, who?s newly married to a wealthy man. Strange how every filmic divorcee dumps her down-on-his-luck loser husband for some handsome, rich douche (most likely played by Jon Voight) only to be reunited with the loser when he completes his character arc in the face of danger. It?s just like in real life? A few weeks back, there was a bunch of casting hoopla that included the likes of Danny Glover, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Oliver Platt, and Thandie ?The Fig? Newton, but all had been quiet until this morn?. The film is expected to begin principle photography soon, albeit depending on the actor?s strike, and has a release date of July 10th, 2009.
