R.I.P. Stan Winston

It?s a sad day for special effects fans, and fans of the fantastic in general. SFX wizard and make-up effects maestro Stan Winston passed away at age 62 yesterday, Sunday June 16th. He had battled multiple myeloma for several years, and passed peacefully, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Stan?s work and fantastic effects earned him four Oscars and many other nominations. Stan won for best visual effects on Aliens, Jurassic Park and Terminator 2: Judgment Day, on which he also was awarded the Oscar for best make-up effects. We spoke with the late, great Stan Winston at last year?s San Diego Comic-Con, and he will, of course, be greatly missed. Our deepest condolences to his friends and loved ones, and to all fans of his special brand of movie magic.
