Home-Invasion Thriller 'Taken' for Test Drive
Lock your doors and board up your windows?the home invasion isn?t over yet. In the wake of The Strangers and the U.S. version of Funny Games hitting theaters, Variety is reporting that Overture Films has snatched up Taken, another in what?s become a tsunami of breaking-and-entering thrillers. Taken comes from a pitch by Karl Gajdusek to producers Irwin Winkler and Jill Cutler, and centers on a marriage which comes apart through infidelity and finds itself put back together through unexpected adversity during a home invasion. No word yet on whether there is a completed script but you can be sure one will be greenlit soon, as Overture looks to cash in on the recent box-office success of the genre.
