FEARnet recently stopped by the New York Licensing Expo Show and boy did we get more than we bargained for. Included in the treats that were on display at the convention were the giant inflatable Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and the car from the original (1984) Ghostbusters film, a caddie with the license plate Ecto 1, which had been recently refurbished after sitting on the Sony lot for 25 years. The New York Licensing Expo was the first time the refurbished car (which is now drivable) was unveiled to the public. The Ecto Cruiser is being driven across America on its way to Comic Con. Not only did we get some sweet pics of Ghostbusters props, but we also got tons of official details about the video game. According to our inside man Dan Aykroyd (who scripted the game with his original Ghostbusters co-writer and co-starrer Harold Ramis) they came to the game development company HQ, and made numerous suggestions that were incorporated into the game. Apparently the game had explained the Ghostbusters' proton packs as "weapons" and Aykroyd suggested that they be referred to as tools due to the family friendly nature of the films. Even more interesting news revealed that not only are the four original Ghostbusters actors returning to voice their roles, but they tried to get anyone else they could from the original films. Annie Potts will be returning to voice secretary Janine Melnitz, and William Atherton is returning to voice their nemesis Walter Peck. Alas, no Rick Moranis or Sigourney Weaver as their characters aren't in the script. Remember, whatever you do, DON'T cross the streams.
