A few weeks ago while in the midst of a heated debate with a co-worker I (regrettably) proclaimed in front of the entire office that if a (serious) movie where animals took over the world was ever greenlit I would quit my job and open up a fair trade coffee shop? Welcome to Uncle Pasty?s Fair Grounds Café! Yeah, I shook my head and took another look at the news when I saw it too, but it?s for real. The Hollywood Reporter posted that Wanted scribes Michael Brandt and Derek Haas have been tapped by producer Neal Moritz to pen his terrible ? oh, I mean Original Film Co.?s pitch All Creatures Great and Small. The film supposedly will be set in a world where the animals control the planet and humans are the minority (When Neal Moritz chose the word ?original? did he really mean 'complete rip off of Planet of the Apes'?). Brandt commented saying, ?Because of people's inability to quench their thirst for oil and consumption of resources, we basically ruin the planet, and the planet fights back. And part of that is the quick evolution of many of the animals." (When Neal Moritz chose the word ?original? did he really mean 'complete rip off of the Happening'?) All I can say is? Wow. That?s literally all I can say. But I guess this just proves the old adage ?don?t judge a book by its cover.? So you heard it here first? Mr. Brandt? Mr. Haas? Prove me wrong please.
If you Wanted to hear about a Brandt/Haas project that DOESN?T sound absurd check out our review of their new movie? Wanted. And don't forget - we've also got an adrenaline fueled interview with the Wanted cast to top things off.
