?Whoaaaa, here he comes/Watch out, boy/He?ll chew you up?? Paraphrasing Hall and Oates? lyrics? Or the newest film from Canal Street Films? Well, according to the Hollywood Reporter, it?s looking like the latter. Actor Michael Emanuel (The Nine, ER) has jumped into preproduction on the film Maneater which he will direct from a script he co-wrote with old friend-o John K. Anderson. The pic, based on the Western Ojibwa legend of the Windigo, centers on an FBI profiler-turned-small-town sheriff, who begins investigating a series of mysterious murders only to discover that the monster he's profiling might be himself. Ooohhh, eerie? Emanuel most recently made ties with the horror community acting as producer on genre title The Uninvited, which wrapped and is currently being shopped to distributors. Maneater is the second of 10 movies that Canal Street Films is producing with independent financing. While the flick is supposed to begin shooting later this month, oddly enough, producers are still casting the leads. Hmmm? good luck throwing a movie together in a week, boys?
