Last month we reported that Bryan Singer had vowed to spend the rest of eternity living beneath New York City where he would become the surrogate commander to a pack of wild crocodiles arbitrarily nesting there ? much like the Sewer King from Batman: The Animated Series. No, actually, we didn?t report that ? but unless you can tell where Bryan Singer?s been, that?s the theory I?ll be endorsing. Well crocs or no crocs, there?s been a recent Singer-sighting within the digital pages of Variety. After the disastrous Superman Returns (the romantic epic that I?ve dubbed Bridges of Metropolis County) and the fiasco that has become Valkyrie, Singer is returning to produce Warner Bros. latest comic book adaptation, Capeshooters, under his Bad Hat Harry banner (apparently Harry was wearing a Superman Returns hat). Capeshooters, derived from the upcoming comic by Rob Liefield (Marvel alumni/Image Comics co-founder), revolves around two slackers who become paparazzi specializing in shooting covert videos of superheroes and subsequently find themselves on the run after stumbling upon evidence that a revered superhero is actually a villain. Sounds interesting. Hopefully this movie gets the treatment Singer gave X-Men as opposed to ? well, you get it by now. Warner has tapped J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani to pen the screenplay.
