The trend this week is shaping up to be horror remake news. Just days after we caught the first glimpse of Jason Voorhees 2.0 suited up in all his goalie-mask-wearing glory, we now have news on the upcoming remake of Nightmare on Elm Street. According to the Hollywood Reporter, New Line Cinema (the now Warner-affiliated production house) has brought on horror-vet Wesley Strick (Arachnophobia, Cape Fear) to write Elm Street?s screenplay. The film will revisit the origins of Freddy Kruger, that old razor-gloved-wearing lothario. The original dropped in 1984 and New Line plans to have this one ready for the 25th anniversary. No screenplay, no cast, no director. A 2009 release? Well at least they?re not setting themselves up for failure?
