Looks like Disney is the next studio trying to cash in on that sweet, sweet monster mania. After the success of gigantic creature pics like Cloverfield and The Host, Variety reports that Disney has jumped on the boat by nabbing the rights to the graphic novel Monster Attack Network. The property is said to have been just out of Disney?s reach since before the writer?s strike, but the studio has finally given itself that extra push to add Network to its slate. The film will be given tentpole status and is reportedly trying to achieve the same tone and audience that the Men in Black franchise once possessed. Network is based on the book by Mark Bernardin and Adam Freeman (with art by Nima Sorat), which centers on a South Pacific island where a team of first-responders rescue residents who are regularly attacked by giant monsters that emerge from the sea.
