Eli Roth Continues To Suck From the Taran-Teet-O

by FEARnet, Wed., Aug. 6, 2008 9:47 AM PDT

Eli Roth. Badass war criminal set loose in France for the sole purpose of Nazi mutilation, or pretty boy horror director? According to Variety, if Quentin Tarantino has anything to say about it, it?ll be both. Apparently Tarantino has cast the Hostel/Cabin Fever director in his upcoming World War II remake Inglorious Bastards as Donnie Donowitz?an executioner whose weapon of choice is a baseball bat. Sounds bloody? and as we at FEARnet well know, bloody is often synonymous with freakin? awesome. Of course Roth has a long personal history with the gory side of life, having poured gallons and gallons of corn syrup upon audiences since his arrival with 2002?s Cabin Fever, and his follow-ups Hostel Part I and Part II. It?s a strange casting choice by Tarantino, but I guess it?s best not to question him as he?s made oddities in role-playing work before (though casting Roth in Death Proof wasn?t his most inspired moment). On the directorial side of things, Roth is still set to direct his long-simmering adaptation of Stephen King?s novel Cell, but no word yet on when that project will be moved forward.
