If anyone knows how to resurrect things from the dead, it?s Sam Raimi. And after lighting up the screen with swarms of the undead in his Evil Dead trilogy, Raimi is looking to awaken another slumbering monster ? Tom Cruise?s career. Both men have signed on for a big-screen incarnation of the graphic novel Sleeper, says The Hollywood Reporter. It?s been awhile since we?ve seen Cruise?s name in genre news and while he didn?t part on the best terms (ahem, War of the Worlds), check out the premise to his and Raimi?s joint venture: Sleeper centers on an operative whose fusion with an alien artifact makes him impervious to pain and allows him to pass it on to others through skin contact. He is placed undercover in a villainous organization by an intelligence agency and falls for a member of the group, named Miss Misery. Well, they sold one ticket. The graphic novel was written by Ed Brubaker with art by Sean Phillips. No writer is set to adapt as of yet. Stay tuned.
