We have the first clip ever from The Burrowers, which is set to make its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival next week followed by stints at Fantastic Fest in Austin (September 21st) and then Screamfest LA (October) ending its tour at Sitges International Film Festival of Catalonia in Spain on October 9th before it finally hits YOUR local DVD retailer (April 2009). Whew! If you?re gonna be at the Toronto Film Festival next week, this flick is definitely gonna be worth checking out ? mark my words, J.T. Petty is the guy to watch! The Burrowers will be screening on the 8th at 3:15 PM in Varsity 4 with an 11:59 PM showing the following night (the 9th) in Ryerson before it closes out on Thursday the 11th with its final screening at Scotiabank 4, 3:30 PM ? then its on to Austin. In the meantime, check out The Burrowers clip that Lionsgate slipped us ? it?s some pretty rad stuff!
From its opening images of the Dakota territories in 1879, The Burrowers appears to be every inch a Western. But in the hands of writer/director J.T. Petty, The Burrowers probes horrors that no Western could ever fathom. What begins as a tale worthy of John Ford ? a band of hardened ranchers set off into the wilderness to rescue a family kidnapped by a Native American tribe ? turns into a terrifying encounter with a gruesome species that?s far from human.
