'The Thing' Remake to Be Prequel?
In a recent interview, producer Marc Abraham revealed something extremely interesting about his rehash of the 1982 alien flick The Thing (itself a remake of the acclaimed 1950s screen thriller, based on John W. Campbell?s classic short story ?Who Goes There??). According to Abraham the film will not be a remake nor will it be a sequel attempting to reboot the franchise. ?This is more of a prequel than a sequel,? said Abraham in an interview with Latino Review. ?It?s going to be taking place in the same time frame (as the original)?? Abraham was slim on any other details but did say that it would definitely follow events that lead up to the original 1982 film. Do I smell an origin story for the film?s murderous, shape-shifting alien race? Good God, I hope not?
