Looks like Superman Returns scribe Michael Dougherty's Trick R' Treat is finally gonna see the light of day. As you may or may not know, studio politics (gee, this is a new concept) had previously shelved Dougherty's horror pet project indefinitely until last month when the film was finally given a date for DVD release on Warner?s slate. Now it seems that fans in (or willing to travel to) the LA area will get a chance to view the pic on the big screen, as the film has been chosen to topline the Screamfest LA film festival. I've definitely been interested in this film after seeing the trailer ages ago, and my interest has only been piqued by the studio troubles that have plagued its release. Toplining the fest alongside Treat will be J.T. Petty's incredible-looking horror western The Burrowers, as well as Martyrs, Dance of the Dead, Splinter, and Parasomnia. Screamfest LA runs October 10th to the 19th with screenings held at Grauman?s Chinese Theatre.
