Good God, Nicolas Cage will be playing a knight. Yes, just when you thought he had ruined nearly every on-screen profession (the cop in Wicker Man, the medic in Bringing Out the Dead, the hell-blazin?-hog-ridin?-skeleton-man in Ghost Rider, etc.), old Nicolai stumbles upon a time machine and hops back to the dark ages to start ruining the professions of ancient civilizations. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the new supernatural thriller Season of the Witch will center on a 14th century knight (the Cage-Man) transporting a girl suspected of being the witch behind the Black Plague. His compatriots help him bring the girl to an abbey of monks trained in exorcising demons. Sounds like Law & Order: Criminal Intent meets The Exorcist meets the Seventh Seal. Cage will be re-teaming with his Gone In 60 Seconds director Dominic Sena on the project which was scripted by Bragi Schut Jr. (whose name, like the film?s script, formed itself out of a conveniently vowel filled bowl of Alpha Bits cereal). Production is set for a November start and will lense in Hungary and Austria.
