After Dark’s Horrorfest thus far has been quite crafty about releasing the remaining films that will comprise the line-up for this year’s 8 Films To Die For – and when I say "crafty" I mean that it was done with absolutely no tact or symmetry. Yep, they're just plopping those titles out there whenever they feel like it. But they must’ve been feeling like it this morning because we are now one title away from knowing the 8. (In unrelated news we're also 1 model away from knowing the 12 Cylons on Battlestar Galactica.) Over at the official Horrorfest website they dropped news that the Australian cannibal flick Dying Breed and the mind-melting atmospheric thriller Autopsy are joining the party.
Dying Breed follows a bunch of friends who dip into the woods for a quiet weekend that ends quite quietly – because they all get eaten by cannibals! (That may not be the actual ending, because I’ve never seen this movie, so relax there slick…) Breed is directed by Jody Dwyer and stars Leigh Whannel (Remember that guy who wrote the first Saw? That’s him!) and Nathan "I Used to Make Only Horror Movies with Animals in Their Titles" Phillips (Wolf Creek, Snakes On a Plane). Autopsy follows a young woman who tries to find her injured boyfriend in a bizarre and dangerous hospital. The film was directed Adam Gierasch and stars Michael "My Name Is Buck and I Like to… Treat Women with the Respect They Deserve" Bowen (Kill Bill, Lost, Deadgirl), and the most infamous of all the T-1000 models, Robert Patrick. Horrorfest III will be doing the rounds at your local Cineplex from January 9th to the 15th.
