Director Scott Reynolds may have found the perfect family to become a part of… the New Zealand/South Korea family. Er, what? Yeah, so according to The Hollywood Reporter it turns out that New Zealand and South Korea have some sort of co-production treaty thing going on. Said agreement is the foundation for director Scott Reynolds newest project Soul Mates, a film that will be the first produced under the recently inked deal.

New Zealand ambassador to Seoul Jane Coombs hosted a celebratory reception Saturday night to introduce Reynolds and his Korean lead, actress Han Chae-young. How romantic! The countries signed the treaty last month, marking the second such formal and comprehensive film agreement for South Korea. (The first was signed with France in October 2006.) Written by Nick Ward, Soul Mates is a film about eternal love and vengeful ghosts, a theme familiar to fans of Korean horror. The pic will start lensing in January with a release next summer, so look out for this one.
