Back in 2003 a really cool Korean flick called A Tale of Two Sisters was released. That, coincidentally, was the same year that Paramount began boycotting writers (those damn maverick writers and their crazy original concepts) and started manifesting toy lines into entire movie franchises. So what d’ya think happened next? That’s right, Paramount saw A Tale of Two Sisters and said “There’s a movie we can make sloppier and slightly tweenier than the original.” And the rest was history… Oh wait, actually, it was the complete opposite of history because I’ve been hearing about this movie forever and, save for a few stills, have seen almost nothing on it until now. But better late than never, right? Check out the poster for The Uninvited below.
The Uninvited revolves around Anna, who returns home after spending time in the hospital following the tragic death of her mother. Her recovery suffers a setback when she discovers her father has become engaged to her mother’s former nurse, Rachel. That night, Anna is visited by her mother's ghost, who warns her of Rachel's intentions. Together, Anna and her sister try to convince their father that his current fiancée is not who she pretends to be, and what should have been a happy family reunion becomes a lethal battle of wills between stepdaughters and stepmother. The flick was directed by Charles and Thomas Guard and stars Emily Browning, Arielle Kebbel, Elizabeth Banks, and David Strathairn. Check out The Uninvited when it hits January 30th, 2009.
