As you probably already know, everyone’s favorite fanboy filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro is currently prepping to shoot the prequel to the Lord of the Rings, a.k.a. The Hobbit. Well Del Toro recently sat down with MTV News to talk about what’s going on with production and what we can expect from the two films which will not only follow the storyline of The Hobbit novel but will also bridge the gap between The Hobbit and Fellowship of the Ring, a part of the story left unfinished by LOTR author J.R.R. Tolkien.

Del Toro touched upon the film’s script by saying: "The reality is that we stopped talking the first movie and second movie, and we just started taking about the movie - the two episodes, or two parts, as if they were a single piece of narrative. We don’t even call it the bridge movie, we just call it ‘The Movie.’ And this is great. When we found what reverberated, and we found it in one of our virtual meetings - we understood. It’s a movie."

So can you and friends begin planning all night screening parties of the films once all five have been released? Well aside from the fact that the first of the two Hobbit films won’t drop until 2011 and the second in 2012 and planning said party now in 2008 might make you a total psychopath, Del Toro is certainly promising continuity.

"We all agree that if we do our job right, it should all feel like a continuous journey. That’s what we’re striving for. You should see a movie that’s five pictures long. If we do our job right, you put in The Hobbit and you wind up watching the entire Pentology!"
