Ah, the 80s: the spandex, the denim jackets, the feathered hair and mullets, and who could forget that race of alien lizards that took over our country and forced us into their dystopian government system? Oh yeah, that didn’t actually happen…that was just a TV show that aired in the 80s called V. Well good news for any V fans that are still out there, because V is back. Yes, according to WorstPreviews, ABC is developing a new adaptation of the franchise — which spawned a second mini and TV spin-off — written by The 4400 co-creator/exec producer Scott Peters, who began his career as a writer/producer on The Outer Limits.

The new V will center on Erica Evans, a Homeland Security agent with an aimless son who's got problems. When the aliens arrive, her son gloms on to them — causing tension within the family. The story will not act, as the orginal did, as a Holocaust allegory. But, like the original, it will contain several storylines unfolding simultaneously. And even more like the 80s version, the show will open with an enormous army of spaceships hovering over the world's major cities. No word yet on when this series plans to launch but at least it’s safe to say onmce more, in a heady burst of nostalgia, that 'The Visitors are our friends!' Now who's got a Misifits of Science re-imagining for me? Anyone?!
