Green and oozing, with a disgusting stench you can smell for miles. Beloved only by a blind librarian (she doesn’t know any better) and feared by most others. No my friends, it’s not time to see a doctor, and it’s not an awkward daytime commercial for an embarrassing ointment not yet FDA-approved, it’s just time to get ready for your favorite (and, in fact, the first) superhero from New Jersey in “whory and gory” stage musical form, the original Toxic Avenger full-length feature film (for free on FEARnet.com) and…on Broadway?!

That’s right. On Friday, the FEARnet editorial staff took a bit of a road trip from our HQ here in downtown Philadelphia to New Brunswick, New Jersey, where we had the pleasure of attending the world premiere of the new Toxie musical, and a glimpse of Lloyd Kaufman, the writer and co-director of the 1985 Toxic Avenger film, walking the black-and-toxic-green carpet affront the George Street Playhouse--while he filmed himself, the theater’s exterior and the Toxie signage for a probable blog on his official website. We then watched the 90-minute mutilated Melvinized musical (check out our three-headed review here), hung out at the after party, and chatted it up with the cast of The Toxic Avenger Musical, who spilled all the details on the musical’s move to Broadway after November 2nd (Broadway details here). And as if that weren’t all hot and toxic enough, we’re also showing The Toxic Avenger full-length feature film for free right now! Who will save New Jersey? We will Mutha F#ckaas!!!
