Nothing scarier than the state of Connecticut.  Oh wait, I forgot – everything on Planet Earth is scarier than the 5,443 square miles that make up Connecticut.  I mean, it’s called the Constitution State for God’s sake!  Not only is it a lame state, but it plays by the rules too!  Ugh.  Anyway, if you were wondering what it would be like if (and I’d really like to make sure my emphasis on “if” comes across as astronomically heavy as I’d like it to) something scary did happen in Connecticut then you might be interested in what we've gotten our hands on today: the official one-sheet for The Haunting In Connecticut.  This poster depicts some people playing with a Ouija board by candle light, while a presumably possessed boy takes a nap on the ceiling (presumably because this film has bored him to sleep) – or is it that he’s on the floor and everyone else is on the ceiling?!  Oh no, I’m already so bored with this movie that I’m cooking up M. Night Shyamalan twists for the ending!  Good God.  Check out the poster and a still from the pic below.

The tagline on the poster reads “What if the only explanation for what you saw was unbelievable?” (As unbelievable as a Connecticut-based Exorcist?).  And, as all haunting movies do, it carries the obligatory “Based on True Events” stamp at the top.  Why does every film with “Haunting” in the title feel the need to let everyone know that it’s based on true events?  All that means to me is that I can probably catch an episode of Unsolved Mysteries about it on TV for free.  I think the only movie that WASN’T based on true events that has “Haunting” in the title is the original The Haunting – and that’s the only good movie with “Haunting” in the title.

What’s it about?  The Haunting in Connecticut is the well-documented story of a family forced to relocate near a clinic where their son is being treated for cancer.  Strained financially and emotionally, the family discovers their recently renovated home was a former mortuary with a dark history.  After experiencing violent supernatural events both inside and out of the house, the family seeks the help of ghost hunters and the Catholic Church, which performs an exorcism.  The film was directed by Peter Cornwell and stars Virginia Madsen (Candyman, The Number 23, Sideways), Elias Koteas (Casey Jones from Ninja Turtles, i.e. Forever My Hero), Amanda Crew (Sex Drive, Final Destination 3), Martin Donovan (The Quiet, Insomnia), and Kyle Gallner (Red, Smallville’s The Flash).
