Ever want to see a movie where a man lurks in the alleys by night and murders hookers? Oh yeah, Jack the Ripper … Hmmm. Well, wanna see another movie where that happens? Well fortunately for you, prostitute-centric homicide enthusiast, Warner Bros. has just struck a deal to bring John Leake’s book Entering Hades to the big screen with Robert Schwentke attached to direct (so says Variety). The book, published late last year, is about Jack Unterweger, a journalist who led a double life strangling prostitutes in Vienna and Los Angeles, and covering his own crimes in the early 1990s. Unterweger hanged himself after receiving a life sentence – and incidentally also after learning that he looked exactly like Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs!! C’mon look at that picture and tell me that’s not our old friend-o Jamie Gumb… No word yet on when production will start but when the hookers start dropping like flies, that’ll probably be a hint that it has.
