It’s a damn good time of year to be a horror fan. With Saw V cutting into theaters this week, the Scream Awards throwing up a bevy of never-before-seen goodies and, of course, Halloween just around the corner there’s definitely much to celebrate. Last night however I turned on my computer and nearly had a seizure – a seizure of joy. Aside from the new My Bloody Valentine 3D poster that hit yesterday (which was actually kind of lame) and the hi-res extended Watchmen trailer, the web was quite ripe with new trailers including those for Friday the 13th and My Bloody Valentine 3D. It was crazy to see all this popping up sans formal studio announcement. So this morning I woke up and I said, “the FEARnetians need to see what my eyes hath gazed upon!” Check out the trailers below and see what you think of them!!
It’s not often that a trailer literally makes me soil myself – but today is a special occasion. Good God that movie looks awesome! Jason has never been that threatening to me because I always knew, deep down inside, that if myself and Mr. Voorhees ever came face-to-face I’d be able to outrun him. Well clearly the man has been putting Camp Crystal Lake’s Fitness Center and Health Spa to good use. I’m quite psyched to see the “new” Jason and his lightning fast speed. Ugh… I’m gushing. On to the next one!
Hmm… I feel like this movie could be good but the whole 3D thing is distracting. I feel like they’ve probably morphed this movie into a crazy action flick just to make that aspect of the film work and that to me is kind of a spit in the face of the original. I feel like they were sitting around while making this movie and saying, “Okay… the original sucked and we really have no way to expand upon it or add anything to do. In fact, I’m not really sure why we’re remaking this… Let’s make it in 3D!” And also what was up with the trailer cutting to a pickaxe flying across the screen every two and a half seconds? I’m pretty sure that unless you’re Roger Clemens throwing a pickaxe like that is basically impossible. It’s like the Friday the 13th remake is trying to make the series more realistic while My Bloody Valentine is pulling one outlandish stunt after the other collapsing the film in a mire of special effects in an attempt to confuse people into liking it. I don’t know… I feel like this is one I won’t be able to get a handle on until I’m sitting in the theater with my 3D glasses on watching it transpire. What did you think of the trailers?
