Despite the release of kids-mega-hit-series High School Musical 3, the horrific Saw V managed to buzz its way into second place this weekend at the box office. While Saw did not have the power of the tween epic on its side, it did still manage to pull down 30.5 million dollars nearly tripling its own budget. At the end of last week it was reported that in order for Saw to become the most successful horror franchise of all time it needed to make an estimated 62.8 million dollars in its theatrical run. Well it’s close to halfway there and with Halloween weekend coming up and no major horror releases on the horizon it just may be able to perform that feat. As for the rest of the box office this weekend, Quarantine rounded out the top ten at numero diez, adding about 2.5 million more to its total (which currently stands at 28.7).
