Who could’ve guessed how much sequel talk there’d be this week? With Chris Nolan finally giving us something on whether or not he’ll return for The Dark Knight sequel, it was time for another superhero franchise to step up and hand in a progress report—and MTV News has it! Yes, Incredible Hulk producer Gale Anne Hurd has revealed that a villain has been selected and Ed Norton is all set to go green one more time.
Norton recently revealed that he’s waiting to hear from Marvel on where the second film will go, but is his interest as a writer (he wrote the first one), an actor or both? Hurd shrugged off concerns of Norton’s artistic integrity by commenting: “It's all going to depend on the screenplay where his character goes in any sequel, because he does have a multiple-picture deal.”
Okay… Not a good idea threatening your star with contract stipulations, but while Hurd’s regard to Norton seemed semi-hostile, she did go on to make a fan-friendly unofficial villain announcement. On the first film’s tease, in which Tim Blake Nelson’s Samuel Sterns caught a drop of Bruce Banner’s blood in a wound and began to transform into what fans of the comic know as The Leader, Hurd commented, "It would be a blast [to put the Leader in the sequel], and Tim Blake Nelson is tremendous and a very talented filmmaker in his own right.”
Hurd also made an attempt at confirming The Hulk’s involvement in The Avengers movie, which had previously been hinted at by director Louis Letterier and Iron Man writers Hawk Otsby and Mark Fergus. “Next, he's likely to appear in an Avengers movie, but that's completely up to Marvel," Hurd explained. So which will come first? The Avengers or The Hulk Sequel? I guess we’ll have to do what us fans are used to doing… wait.
